NOTES FOR MEMBERS ON THE VALUATION OF CARS

The Register offers a valuation service for its members. This is intended to meet the requirement for an independent valuation which insurers sometimes request, particularly for cars of higher value, when 'agreed value' insurance is being arranged.

Valuations will only be given in writing, on the Register's Valuation Form.

Valuations are given by Regional Representatives or members of the Management Committee who have volunteered to act as valuers.

How to request a valuation

1. Download and print a Valuation Form, or send a stamped addressed envelope to the Registrar, requesting a form.

2. Complete part 1 of the Valuation Form, giving your contact details your own assessment of your car.

3. Take at least four good quality photographs of your car: one from the front quarter, showing front and one side; one from the rear quarter, showing rear and the other side; one of the interior; and one of the engine compartment. For high value cars and cars in excellent condition, additional photographs will help in an accurate valuation.

4. Send to the Registrar:

a. the part-completed Valuation Form
b. your photographs (please note that these will be retained by the Register for its archive and may be published)
c. a cheque for £10, payable to the Wolseley Register (to cover the administration of the valuation scheme)

5. The Registrar will organise a valuation. In general an adequate valuation can be given based upon your information and the photographs. However, the valuer may contact you with any questions and occasionally, for unusual or very high value vehicles, may want to see your car. We try to choose valuers geographically close to you, to facilitate inspection should this be necessary. If an inspection is necessary the valuer will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient time and place. Provided that the valuation is straightforward and can be done from photographs, we aim to send the valuation to you within two weeks.
