Wolseleys en route on Drive It Day 2011
The Region had decided to join in once again with the Cambridge Oxford Owners Club who had planned an ambitious run starting at Thirsk market place heading through Wensleydale to Hawes via Leyburn, returning via the stunning scenery of Buttertubs Pass through Swaledale to Reeth. The weather was excellent and there was quite an incredible turnout. The run was quite challenging but more challenging was finding somewhere to park wherever we went - what with other clubs and individuals travelling the same roads which added to the enjoyment, the weather certainly brought out the motorists and bikers in large numbers. It was a different and a pleasant outing, and a promising start for the season. The picture above shows five of the six participants having a break to allow some brake cooling having just descended the 1 in 5 Pass and for some reason engaged in a dipstick inspection exercise which prompted inevitable comparisons!
