Stolen Wolseley Hornet
Today, between 11:00 and 13:00 (13th December), my Hornet was stolen from 61 blackheath park, Blackheath, London SE3 9SH.
It would appear is has been taken on a flat bed truck or similar as the tyre tracks show it was dragged back a couple of feet and then they stop.
The car is Island Green and has registration JVX 149C.
If you are offered a car like this, please contact Julia on

We will post the VIN numbers and some other identifying marks once we've contacted the police.

6/110 MkIII
Dear Mr Noticeboard,
I was wondering if the pictures in attachment could be from the seatbelts of my 1967 Wolseley 6/110 MkII?
In my memory, the seat belts were tinted in blue, like the seats, but I am really not sure.
Thanks you very much.

Wolseley 15/50 - THE FINE CHROME SCRIPT ON THE BONNET.
I have been told that someone has manufactured new sets of the delicate chrome wording saying 'Wolseley Fifteen Fifty' fitted to the bonnet. Has anyone a pair of these they are willing to sell (or trade for a 15/50 Speedo!)

I have owned for a number of years a pair of Lucas King of the road headlights type LBD 166 side mounted, that i believe were originally on a Wolseley car. I wondered if you could confirm this for me and advise me the best way of advertising these to Wolseley owners.

You will notice all the handbooks refer to is the 'brand' Sirrom - which was blended by Duckhams for Morris - the engine oil would have been a monograde 30sae. Since then oils have improved no end but the diversity is even greater - if you know the condition of your engine - had it been rebuilt before storage/how well was it stored - with new or old oil in the sump etc etc I would suggest you use either a 15/40 'classic' oil (Millers, Morris, Castrol, Penrite - depending on local availability and the depth of your pockets!) - if you suspect it is 'worn' then a 20/50 would be better and is less likely to 'escape' being more viscous. Personally I use Millers XML 20/50 in my 1935/6 New Fourteen which had the engine rebuilt twelve years ago.
The gearbox should be an 80 grade but 90 or a 85/90 will do - NOT an EP - again I use Green Gear 90 from Millers, the diff also requires a NON EP grade - 140 which is rather thick but it does thin out when it gets warm - I use Green Gear 140 from Millers.

1934 Nine - Help Required
I submitted my application form early last week, which I trust you have received. I am however in desperate need of advice as to which oils to use for the engine, gearbox and back axle of a 1934 Nine. It is being MOT'd on Friday and this will be it's longest (and only) journey since 1975.
Many Thanks

continued...
In the hope of eliciting an early response to my request for information viz correct oils for engine, gearbox, back axle and steering box I attach a couple of photos of my 1934 nine as it was pulled from its slumber four weeks ago. It was put into the garage in 1975. Also is one photo of it after a bit of polish and cleaning. The photos do flatter it a bit!

6/99 - Police Car
Yes the Met. used the Wolseley 6/99 before the appearance of the 6/110 in 1961, they even entered a 6/99 in the 1960 Monte Carlo rally car reg. no 384 FJO. The driver and co - driver were both based at the Hendon Driving School.

6/110 Restoration
Dear Mr Noticeboard,
After a 10 years halt, I am now restarting the restauration of my 6/110 MkII. I will certainly need spares in the future, and here is what I need at this point:
- bumpers
- electric circuit
- complete set of carpets
Should anybody have a hint where I can find these, this would be very appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

Police 6/99 and 6/110
A contact has asked me a question I have no answer to! Basically, did the Met Police have any 6/99 cars before the 6/110? By 1961 and ON THE BEAT they must have still been using 6/90 cars I would imagine.
I can only really remember the 6/110s from childhood days!

12h.p. Coupe - Help required
Hi there Mr Noticeboard, I'm dealing with Peter Richardson's 1936 12 hp coupe. Repainting it as close to original as possible as the previous colour was not quite right. However we struck a problem with the oil filter for it. probably a Tecalmit 1804 or 1805. We cannot find another one for love nor money although we have been informed of an adapter to fit a more universal oil filter. Any help to find something original would be a great help. Also a 12/48 coupe or sedan manual.

Do you have any info on 1958 to 1964 Canadian made Wolseleys?

Wolseley Nine
Dear Mr. Noticeboard.
I have recently purchased a 1933 Wolseley 9 reg no. ANB 583 body no. 131662. chassis no.1662/112. Last known owners Andrew Boss since Feb 96 and Hamilton White, sept 87 to feb 96. does anyone know any more?
I was told of it's interesting history by the last owner. Apparently it was converted into a pick-up during the war because one could get rationed petrol as it's registered as a commercial vehicle/pick-up.
The car is very rough and much of the body has rotted away,so there is no harm in my plan to build a war time themed pick-up with the remains. My plans are to make it look like it was built for the war department, drab olive in colour, standard wheels, canvas seats, etc. I have to fabricate a new pick-up bed in steel or wooden stake bed style, as nothing is left now of the old one. I will use a Ford pinto engine, 5 speed g/box and 105E axle with RS2000 diff. This will enable it to cruise at a steady 70, and have lots of enjoyment from this charming little car.
I have the original engine and gearbox No.1778 112A 1096cc? prop and rear axle available if anyone would like it. I would really like to trade it for some more body parts, doors, shell, left overs from restorations etc. Condition of the parts is not too important as I'm looking for the old patina style, and have to fabricate the rear of the cab too, coachbuilt as much as possible to look original. what's out there? Please help.
I would love to learn more about the Wonderful Wolseley's and hear anyone's thoughts about this interesting pick-up 'model'.
I can't stress enough that this car was saved from certain death in the jaws of the crusher and not a wonderful restorable classic which like yourselves, I also love to see.
I hope to join the register and when the little truck is finished come along to some shows.
Best regards
