In the mid-'90s Vitesse (more correctly, SunStar Vitesse of China) made a very detailed high-quality Wolseley Hornet Mk 3 (picture A) in duotone colours. With a magnifing glass it was possible to read 'Wolseley' in the grille badge.
In about 1997 Vitesse were in financial difficulties and Dinky/Matchbox took over production. The baseplate now carried the legend 'Dinky/Matchbox Hornet 1962'. The quality wasn't as good but the model featured external door hinges, making it a Mk 2 (picture B).
In 2003 the name Vitesse reappeared and again started producing the Hornet (picture C). This Hornet, though designated a Mk 3, features external door hinges found only on the Mk 1/2.
