MIDLANDS REGION ACTIVITIES
THURSDAY 1 DECEMBER - CHRISTMAS MEAL: 20 members and guests enjoyed a spendid evening at the regular monthly meeting venue.
FRIDAY/SATURDAY/SUNDAY 11/12/13 NOVEMBER: FOOTMAN JAMES CLASSIC MOTOR SHOW, N.E.C., BIRMINGHAM. On behalf of the Register, the Midlands Region staged a stand at the annual Classic Motor Show at the National Exhibition Centre. Three cars were displayed - the National Chairman's 6/90; the 4/44 winner of "best Gerald Palmer car at National Rally" and a lovely local 1100 Mk II.
Thanks to all who helped and visited the stand, which was busy on all 3 days with admiring visitors and regalia customers. Overseas visitors included members from New Zealand. Two new local members joined at the Show as well as another based in the North East Region.

SUNDAY 23 OCTOBER - NATIONAL RESTORATION SHOW, STONELEIGHMany visitors and members were welcomed to the Register stand which demonstrated a range of tasks being undertaken on a 15/50. Owner Angela and her father Ken worked hard all day, assisted by Graham. The workers were plied with refreshments by their admiring families.

SATURDAY 15/SUNDAY 16 OCTOBER - STOURBRIDGE BONDED WAREHOUSE OPEN WEEK-END: Members and Wolseley owners were present on both days for this enjoyable canalside event.
THURSDAY 13 OCTOBER - ANNUAL MEETING: Plans for 2012 were discussed and officers for the coming year elected at the monthly meeting held at the Parson & Clerk.
SATURDAY 17/SUNDAY 18 SEPTEMBER - STOKE PRIOR STEAM RALLY: Several Wolseleys attended this Shakespeare Promotions Rally near Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

SUNDAY 4 SEPTEMBER - 12th DUDLEY CLASSIC CAR & TRANSPORT SHOW, HIMLEY HALL, DUDLEY: Visitors were welcomed to the Register stand at the last Transtar event of the season.

SUNDAY 7 AUGUST - HAMPTON CLASSIC CAR RUN IN AID OF MARY ANN EVANS HOSPICE, NUNEATON Three Midlands Members enjoyed a road run of approximately 20 miles from the Hospice to the Bosworth Water Park. Two of the local members who took part were delighted to win a prize with their Wolseley 1500.
SATURDAY/SUNDAY 30/31 JULY - OPEN GARDENS AND CLASSIC CAR DISPLAY, LULLINGTON, DERBYSHIRE Over 250 vintage and classic vehicles were displayed at and opposite the Forge Garage in this delightful village. Several members attended over the week-end.

SATURDAY/SUNDAY 2/3 JULY - CARS IN THE PARK, BEACON PARK, LICHFIELD Nine Wolseleys and one Triumph (the owner's beloved Wolseley undergoing maintenance) enjoyed this friendly event which raises substantial funds for charity.

SUNDAY 19 JUNE - TRENTHAM CLASSIC CAR SHOW, STOKE-ON-TRENT a small contingent of Wolseleys attended the 2011 event.
SUNDAY 19 JUNE - WYTHALL BUS MUSEUM, NR BIRMINGHAM Local members were joined by a visiting member from Dorset for a Father's Day special opening of the museum.

SUNDAY 22 MAY - SOUNDS OF THE SIXTIES WEEK-END, SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY Several Wolseleys graced the entrance to, and the grounds of, Kidderminster Station at this enjoyable event

Classic vehicle displays were staged at every station along the line, culminating in a Morris Minor gathering at Bridgenorth which attracted entries from other parts of the UK and even France.

SUNDAY 8 MAY - VISIT TO NEW HALL WATER MILL, SUTTON COLDFIELD.

Five local Wolseleys and an accompanying Rover 3.5 litre coupe enjoyed a delightful day out, visiting New Hall Water Mill (external site). Participants enjoyed a range of activities including viewing the 18th century working mill; joining in a guided bird walk and partaking of delicious refreshments. Other visitors to the mill showed great interest in the classic car display, reminiscing and enquiring about the range of models in attendance.
EASTER MONDAY - 25 APRIL - HANBURY STEAM GATHERING: A small contingent of Wolseleys enjoyed the sunshine at the Rally organised by Shakespeares Promotions.

SUNDAY 17 APRIL - DRIVE IT DAY: A number of Wolseley members accepted the invitation to attend the Birmingham Branch Morris Minor Owners Club Rally at Witley Court and Gardens (English Heritage site), Worcestershire.

Meanwhile, pre-war Wolseleys attended the
Drive It Day Birmingham (external website) event in Centenary Square. The 2012 event is already planned for Sunday 22 April.
On sunny
Saturday, 16 April, the Pride of Longbridge 2011 event was organised solely by the Austin Federation to commemorate all component parts and cars associated with the Motor Works which closed in 2005. There was plenty for everyone to see and do including competitions and entertainment for children. An estimated 700 vehicles attended, covering a wide range of makes and models including several Wolseleys, all with a Longbridge connection, were displayed in the Park and attracted much interest from the general public.
