This all came about as a result of me taking a photograph of the car on their forecourt about six weeks earlier. The garage, Maxwell Motors in Blackrock, Co. Dublin, was where my late father purchased his Triumphs, Rovers and Wolseleys over a long period of time and the same garage where I got my first full time job, many years ago.
Anyway enough of my reminiscing. I emailed the photograph to the garage and the present Managing Director, who is the son of the Managing Director I in fact worked for, replied promptly and asked if I would like to have my Wolseley on display in their showrooms. Of course I replied in the affirmative. The car went on show on the 11th of May and has attracted huge interest and I hope many potential purchasers through the doors.
It has been a long journey to get the car to the condition it is in today and I'm extremely grateful to Peter Radcliffe of SVW Spares Ltd and David and Marilyn from the North West Region, for their unstinting encouragement when at times I felt like giving up, mainly due to the fact of the difficulty in obtaining spare parts.
So once again, in 2010, a Wolseley occupied pride of place in a car showroom. It is possibly too much to expect that, at some time in the future, we will once again see in showrooms, a new car with the famous illuminated grill badge bearing the Wolseley name.
